İmanım — Support
Write to us
If something is wrong, missing or confusing, write to abmbofficiall@gmail.com. You can also do it from inside the app: More → Contact & Support opens your mail app with the subject already filled in.
It helps to include:
- Your phone model and OS version (e.g. iPhone 13, iOS 18.2)
- The app language and the city shown
- A screenshot of the screen where you saw the problem
- If it is about prayer times: the times on your screen that day, and the times you expected
Frequently asked questions
The times are a few minutes off
Times are computed on your device from your latitude and longitude. Which authority's criteria are used is chosen automatically from your country: the app knows 20 official religious authorities and picks the right one from your location's country code. Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı in Türkiye, Umm al-Qura in Saudi Arabia, the Egyptian General Authority of Survey in Egypt, and so on. If the country cannot be determined, the Muslim World League criteria are used.
That is why there is no "calculation method" setting — and no way to pick the wrong one. You can see which authority is in use on More → About.
If the times are not what you expect, check these in order:
- Is the city right? Is the city name at the top of the screen really where you are? If not, see "I want to change my city" below.
- Is the phone's time zone right? With automatic time zone off, every time shifts.
- Is it only Asr? Asr depends on the juristic method; see the next answer.
A difference of a minute or two is normal — calendars round and add caution margins differently. Half an hour is not normal; please write to us.
Asr comes too late or too early for me
Asr is calculated differently depending on the juristic method. Choose yours under More → Juristic Method (Asr):
- Hanafi — when an object's shadow is twice its own length
- Shafi / Hanbali / Maliki — when the shadow reaches one length
Hanafi pushes Asr about an hour later. No other prayer is affected by this choice.
Notifications are not arriving
Start inside the app: More → Notification Settings. Every prayer has its own reminder and they may all be off. Each row can be set to "Off", "On time", or something like "5 min before".
If the setting looks on but nothing arrives:
On iPhone — check Settings → Notifications → İmanım and make sure notifications are allowed. If a Focus mode is on, it may be silencing them.
On Android — two settings block this often:
- Battery optimisation. Go to Settings → Apps → İmanım → Battery and set the app to unrestricted. Xiaomi, Samsung, Huawei and Oppo devices also have a separate "autostart" permission that needs to be on.
- Exact alarm permission. The app uses exact alarms so a reminder fires at the stated minute. With that permission off, Android defers the notification to a time of its own choosing and the reminder drifts.
If you have just restarted the phone, open the app once — the reminders are rescheduled at that moment.
Note: the app cannot send you anything remotely. Every reminder is scheduled on the device, by the device's own notification system.
There is no adhan sound, only vibration
Under More → Notification Settings → Adhan sound there are two choices: the Adhan recording bundled with the app, or your phone's default notification sound. Check which one is selected and try it with "Play a preview" on the same screen.
Nothing plays if the phone is on silent or a Focus mode is on. On Android the notification channel's sound may also have been turned off on the system side: look at Settings → Apps → İmanım → Notifications → Prayer Time Notifications.
I want the phone to go quiet during prayer
More → Notification Settings → Silence phone during prayer silences the phone for the duration of the prayer on Android.
It does not work on iOS — Apple does not let apps change the ringer. On iPhone we suggest setting up a Focus mode instead.
The qibla points the wrong way
The qibla bearing is computed from your position and is correct; what drifts is almost always the phone's compass.
- Wave the phone in a figure eight for a few seconds. The Calibrate compass button on the qibla screen shows you how.
- Hold the phone flat and turn slowly.
- Magnetic cases, magnetic car mounts, desk speakers and metal surfaces confuse the compass. Move away from them.
- If the screen says "Magnetic", or notes that true north is unavailable, the compass is reading magnetic north and may be a few degrees off for where you are. When the app can apply the magnetic declination correction, it says so on screen.
Some tablets and inexpensive devices have no compass sensor at all. There the app still gives the bearing as a number, but the needle does not turn.
I want to change my city
Under More → Location Settings:
- With Use Automatic GPS Location on, times follow wherever you are.
- Turn it off and use Search City to pick your own. This is useful when travelling, when you would rather not grant location access, or where GPS is unreliable.
Changing the city also changes the religious authority used for the calculation, to the one for that country.
If you never grant location access the app keeps working: it computes times for İstanbul and waits for you to choose a city. No feature is locked behind the permission.
What works without a connection
Works offline: prayer times, the qibla direction, the Hijri calendar and religious days, the text of the Qur'an and the translations, the supplications, the 99 Names, the Sira section, the tasbih counter and the widgets. They are correct in airplane mode.
Needs a connection: the Qur'an radio, playing and downloading recited audio, and city search.
Surahs you downloaded earlier play offline.
I want to free up space
Downloaded recitations take room. On More → Downloaded Recitations:
- Delete next to a surah removes that one.
- Delete all removes everything at once; the screen tells you how much space that frees before you confirm.
- Clear kept audio removes the stored audio of verses you have listened to. These are kept so they are not fetched twice, and the oldest are dropped automatically when space is needed.
Anything you delete can be downloaded again whenever you like.
Do I need an account? Is it paid?
No and no. There is no registration and no sign-in. The app is free: no ads, no in-app purchases, nothing locked. The name the welcome screen asks for is only so the home screen can greet you, it never leaves your phone, and you can leave it blank.
I chose Arabic and the app restarted
That is expected. Arabic is written right to left and the whole layout has to change direction; the app reloads itself once to apply it. Your data and settings stay as they were.
You can change the language at any time under More → App Language.
How do I add the widgets?
Press and hold an empty spot on your home screen and pick İmanım from the widget list. The More → Widgets screen inside the app explains which sizes exist and what each one shows.
Widgets compute the times on the device; they need no connection.
How do I delete my data?
There is no server record to delete — none of your data ever reaches us. Uninstalling the app removes everything it kept. You can also delete downloaded surahs from inside the app (see "I want to free up space" above).
See the Privacy Policy for the detail.
Known limits
- Auto silent mode does not work on iOS. Apple does not allow it; use a Focus mode.
- On devices without a compass the qibla needle does not turn; only the bearing is shown.
- The app cannot send you notifications. There is no server and no push; every reminder is scheduled on the device.
- There is no separate tablet layout. On a tablet the app opens with the phone layout.
